For many readers, They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky: The true story of three Lost Boys from Sudan is both an inspirational narrative and an eye-opening look at the realities of life in Sudan and in surrounding refugee camps. In what ways has reading this book changed your own personal outlook or perspective?
Essays should not exceed 1,500 words, and only one entry can be accepted per person. Essays will be evaluated by a panel of faculty judges at Missouri S&T, and the winning writers will be honored in two categories: English 20 students and non-English 20 students. Please submit all entries electronically to onebook@mst.edu by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Remember to include your name and whether or not you are a student in English 20. Winners will receive valuable gift cards and will be publicly recognized during the presentation to be delivered by the authors of They Poured Fire on Us From the Sky, at 7:00 PM on October 22, 2008, in the Student Recreation Center in the Gale-Bullman Multipurpose Building.
